This morning we did our first radio interview! Many thanks go out to Bulldog, Snoopy and the Dude at the Bulldog and the Rude Awakening radio show in Ocean City, MD. We appreciate the invitation, and the nice treatment they gave me on the air. Also, thanks for putting me on before the guy who has visited another planet. I don't think I could have followed that act!
Here is a link to the interview. You have to scroll down the box at the top of the page until you get to 4/27. Then you will have to listen to the "other planet guy" (Andy Reiss) for about 20 minutes (no ability to fast forward on their site) to get to our part.

Big things are happening at OnThe MapUS!
We have been putting much thought and effort into getting the word out. A few weeks ago, one of our Claim Owners (thanks ECO!) posted a great idea for promotion in The Forum. He recognized that OnTheMapUS would be a fantastic way for deployed Military Service Members to keep in touch with the folks back home, and for the people of their town to lend support and encouragement to them while they are away from family and friends. We got to work on this idea, and have established a relationship with a group called eMail Our Military.
The first town page to make use of this idea is already on the website.
We hope you will visit and lend your support (leave a message of encouragement) to those serving their country.
We have also begun working with a world class publicist to bring national exposure to OnTheMapUS. We consider it a major coup that this publicist would choose to work with us, as her services are so much in demand that she can select only the most interesting and compelling ideas to work on. Given her stellar track record, we look forward to national exposure in the coming months in newspapers, radio and even television.
We also have reason to believe that our months-long effort to get national exposure on our own is about to bear fruit. Look for a Wall Street Journal article about start-up company marketing tactics to mention OnTheMapUS in the next few weeks.
We hope that these developments will lead to considerably higher traffic to the website and more Claim Owners and participants. Many of you have done a great job with your town pages and are already getting your share of website traffic. If you have not yet created (or finished) your page, please consider doing it now (it should only take about an hour or two) prior to the anticipated 1000 fold increase in visitors over the coming weeks and months.

1. Tell a friend about this page - Located in the top left of each Claim Owner's Page. Now any visitor to your Page (including you) can easily send a link to your Page to anyone with an email address.
2. Guestbook and Journal break-out pages - There is now a View All link at the top of the Guestbook and Journal sections. These sections are defaulted to show 5 entries on the main Claim Owner's Page, and then allow visitors to access older entries on a break-out page from View All.
3. Weather section - Many of you have already found this feature. Your town's current weather can now be displayed on your Page by accessing the Local Weather section (My Account, Page Creation) and clicking the check box.
4. Forgot my Password - Automated support for forgetful people. Found in Sign In/Sign Up.
5. State hotlinks from U.S. Map (homepage) - Every state on the homepage map is now hotlinked to go to a zoom view - Better for easy navigation of the website, more room for map pins, and a great view of the topography surrounding your town!

1. Edit Display Name - You can now choose to display a different name on your Claim (Pinfo and Page) than your Username. If you own multiple Claims, you can even display a different name for each Claim. Changing your Display Name does not impact or change your Sign In credentials. This feature is accessed through the Claim Info Settings link for each Claim.
2. Under Construction Page - Also on the Claim Info Settings link is the ability to turn on or turn off a Default Display Page telling visitors that your Claim is "Under Construction". For new Claim Owners, this will default to ON, until they turn the feature OFF by way of the checkbox.
3. Edit Sections - You can now Edit sections of your Claim Owner's Page straight from the Page itself once you are Signed In. Look for the Edit link next to each section heading.
4. Image on Pinfo - The Pinfo area has now been enabled to display an image chosen by the Claim Owner. To upload an image, go to the Pinfo Edit area and upload as you would a Photo in Photo Album.
